Position: Managing Account Advocate
Summary: This position is responsible for the overall strategic management and service new and existing benefits clients. The position will be responsible for managing and coordinating workings of sales and service personnel in the department. It will also have detailed involvement in completing service work related to assigned accounts. The position is responsible for integrating the Olson & Olson Ltd mission statement ideal into the fabric of job duties and actively and positively demonstrating the stated core values that are part of the Olson & Olson Ltd overall culture.
Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 Annual
Duties: Essential Functions:
o Demonstrate Core Values in all aspects of duties and responsibilities
o Provide management and coordination of account sales activity from Client Consultants for the department
o Provide HR management for the department, including hiring, firing, employee reviews, communication and implementation of agency management directives.
o Provide direction for processes and assistance as needed to Service personnel in department (Account Advocates, Techs, etc.)
o Analyze Employee Benefit products and recommend client solutions to Client Consultants
o Collaborate with Client Consultants on client options for client presentation, coordinating with Account Advocates.
o Provide insight and advice concerning appropriateness of benefit products, options presented, direction for proposal/presentations for client needs and situations
o Often communicates directly with clients in conjunction with daily activity and collaboration with Client Consultants
o Provide insight and direction for appropriate levels of service appropriate for each client
o Provide participation and direction (in person and virtually) as appropriate for Client Consultant appointments, department, and carrier meetings.
o Meet with carriers and review product portfolio
o Maintain carrier relationships
o Provide/present educational meetings for employees
o Be available to assist Client Consultants , Account Advisors, and Account Advocates in educating clients on the administration of benefit plans and compliance issues as appropriate
o Provide direction to service personnel for assisting clients in manage claims resolution, presentations, and managing inquiries
o Present benefit plans at open enrollment meetings
o Implement processes for and maintain high level of quality assurance for all vendor, plan design, proposals, financial recommendations, and other client communications/presentations in concert with Producer and/or Account Manager.
o Work with Client Consultants and service personnel to prepare and monitor implementation schedules and tasks for new groups and renewals.
o Coordinate and manage Account management work, account assignment, and serve as technical resource for the team with regard to procedures, management system as well as carrier technology and tools.
o Perform office work directly related to the general business operations of Olson & Olson Ltd.
o Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance; evaluate and compare possible courses of action and make decisions or recommendations after considering various possibilities.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of business experience with knowledge of Group Employee Benefits or Group Employee Benefits Account Management preferred. The desired individual will have demonstrated management skills and ability to participate in business development activities, as well as understanding of health and welfare underwriting, analytics and modeling.
o Knowledge of and familiarity with current Health, Life, Dental, Vision, Long-Term Disability (LTD), Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Care products.
o Knowledge of and familiarity with ACA current and proposed regulations.
o Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of citizens and agency staff.
o Ability to run an effective meeting, using listening, reasoning and articulate communication skills.
o Ability to provide meaningful and effective management of personnel
o Proficient in a variety of computer software applications used by the agency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint; as well as the internet and Carrier Web Sites.
o Ability to operate copier, scanner, fax machine, calculator and telephone.
o Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
o This position is not a typical 40 hour/week job and often entails a commitment of more hours/week and/or off hours activities and commitments
o Frequently sit for long periods of time
o This is a public contact position that request appropriate business apparel
o Responsibilities may include travel to local client and carrier locations during the work date
o Candidate must have insured vehicle and be legally eligible to drive to a local location
o Must maintain applicable insurance licenses
o Stay updated on changes and enhancements of various systems used by the agency for maximum performance and efficiencies.
